As our exhibition for a quarantined audience, If a Tree Falls…, closes, we are reminded of the gift we have been given to be able to work with artists we believe in, and to operate this space in Portland’s Pearl district. A privileged space. A space where we, two white women, run a gallery situated in a wealthy neighborhood, selling expensive objects in a city built on white supremacy, in a state built on white supremacy, in a country built on stolen land and slave labor. We are complicit by benefiting from this privilege and we commit to actively listen, learn, and to use our privilege to voice an anti-racist agenda. Black lives matter.
