Derek Franklin (b. 1981) is an artist based in Portland, Oregon. He received his BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and his MFA from Rutgers University. Recent solo exhibitions include Gray Minstrel (Carl and Sloan Contemporary, Portland: 2015), Mending Capers (Thierry Goldberg, New York: 2015), and Meditation Furniture for Ten Minute Breaks (Document, Chicago: 2015). Franklin's works have also been presented in group exhibitions at Thierry Goldberg (New York: 2014), Andel31 (Copenhagen: 2014), Simone Subal Gallery (New York: 2013), and Soloway (New York: 2013). Franklin is a partner and director at the artist run space Soloway in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently a Professor at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
